MARK 1:8

Here we read of the supernatural experience that the Bible calls The Baptism With The Holy Spirit. This is one of the most marvelous experiences that you’ll ever have in your entire life. It will give you supernatural power to witness, it will magnify God in your life, it will give you the ability to operate in the supernatural Gifts of the Holy Spirit & the ability to pray in tongues (a very powerful way to pray), as well as spiritually ‘charge you up’ in your faith.

This wonderful experience is available to every believer who is born-again. Once you are baptized with the Holy Spirit you will begin to speak forth words in an unknown tongue - which are given by the Holy Spirit, which you yourself may not understand, but which none the less are a genuine language.

Note that the Baptism with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues has nothing to do with a person going to heaven. No one has to speak in tongues to be saved. However, the Baptism with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues is the will of God for every N/T believer.

THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

There were 120 men and women present at Pentecost, including Jesus’ mother Mary, and His brothers. You’ll notice here that they were ALL filled and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance

THE REASON FOR THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT IS TO WITNESS IN POWER

THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A DIFFERENT AND SEPARATE EXPERIENCE FROM THAT OF BEING BORN-AGAIN

Many denominations teach, and rightly so, that the Holy Spirit is placed within you when you’re born again, but there is a difference in having the Holy Spirit within us as a result of being born-again, and this experience the Bible calls the Baptism with the Holy Spirit.

These verses clearly show that the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, or "receiving the Holy Spirit" as it is put here, is a separate and different experience from believing in Jesus for salvation and being baptized in water
